Planning Commission Rejects Golf Course Appeal

At the Placer Planning Commission meeting October 26 the Commission unanimously rejected the appeal of Morgan Creek, LLC. The appeal was for the refusal of the Planning Department to deem complete the application to build 67 homes on the golf course. The Department’s position is that zoning and the Community Plan must be changed, and because of this SB330, the Affordable Housing Act’s expedited processing, does not apply.

The Community’s response to the appeal was fantastic. Many of you wrote letters to the Commission. Well over 100 residents attended the meeting in person! We sincerely thank those who actively participated for their support. It is extremely important to the preservation of our community.

Unfortunately we’re not done yet. The golf course will likely appeal the Commission’s decision to the Placer Board of Supervisors. They have 10 days to do so. The appeal has been entered as a placeholder on the Board’s calendar for November 28. Assuming that hearing takes place we will need your support once again, and more if we can find it. Please mark your calendars and write the supervisors. We’ll let you know as soon as the date is confirmed. The contact information appears below:

We are looking for volunteers to pass out the flyers door to door and possibly at the Vineyard, Walerga and Pinehurst gate. Were asking for help on both the South and North side. It’s a small commitment of your time to help us fight the golf course owners plans to develop the property by building 67 homes!

If you can help, please email us at jadrainc1@gmail.com and tell us what you can do.

It’s your neighborhood that’s at risk!

Call to Action-Golf Course Housing Project Appealed-We Need Your Help!

As most of you know, the golf course owners have appealed the Placer Planning Department’s decision to not deem their application complete without legislative changes to the Dry Creek/West Placer Community Plan and revision of zoning. A hearing is scheduled before the Planning Commission On October 26. We need to act. What can I do?

  • Immediately send an email to each individual Commissioner specifying your objections. Their email addresses are shown in the Commission’s website, https://www.placer.ca.gov/2403/Planning-Commission. We do not recommend cookie cuter responses so please make them original. The main reasons the Planning Department objected to the application is they contend it is in conflict with the West Placer/Dry Creek Community Plan. Go to this post on our website, mcowners.com for a copy of the appropriate section of the plan. We’ve highlighted in yellow those parts which we consider most relevant. You can also talk about road congestion, easements on our private roads, etc., but you be the judge.
  • Attend the Planning Commission meeting IN PERSON. A large turnout showing community solidarity is the most effective response we can have. The meeting is October 26 starting at 10 am at 3091 County Center Drive, Auburn. We are trying to get this first on the agenda. We will have a final agenda to publish here as soon as it comes out, probably a week before.
  • Talk to your neighbors. Have them register on the blog for real time updates and how they can help, https://atomic-temporary-145029327.wpcomstaging.com/registration/. We need to reach more people.
  • We need volunteers. We need an overall coordinator as well as people to possibly design and hand out flyers, and contact residents. If you can help, please contact us at jadrainc1@gmail.com with what you are willing to do and we’ll get back to you ASAP.

Comments and suggestions are strongly encouraged. In the BLOG at the top of the post click “Comments” to view them and add your own.
