Your Support Makes All The Difference

We have been overwhelmed with so many positive responses from Morgan Creek residents who are putting their own biases and partisan politics aside for the betterment of the community as a whole. It is heartening to know that there far more residents who care about preserving our beautiful Morgan Creek community than arguing about who’s the best person to do it. I look forward to seeing many of you this Thursday evening for a conversation with Jack Duran, our current Placer County supervisor, about your concerns for the future of our community. If you haven’t already done so, please RSVP to James Shelby at jshelby69@comcast.net.

  1. That is great news! Just an FYI – I see that Charlie’s son is selling his house on the Pinehurst side as well now. I’m not sure if he owns it, or Charlie owns it, but saw a for sale sign on it. Looks like the whole family is getting out of here. Kind a bummer to see this happening. It sounds like community is coming together though! I hope a solution to keep the golf course up and running is found (without subsidies).

    1. It is all but official, current ownership is heading for the exit. After the big remodel on the clubhouse this is the last thing I expected to see happen. My opinion is we need to rethink our HOA leadership and define mutually inclusive goals that serve everyone in the community.

  2. Can you confirm whether a $250 donation to Jack Duran’s campaign is required to attend this meeting?

    1. This is not a meeting but a private fundraising event. The homeowner who is hosting this event is graciously opening her home and providing food and beverages and donations are strongly encouraged but not mandatory. You however must RSVP so our host has a proper headcount.

  3. It is a bummer that the Gibson family is selling their homes in Morgan Creek. They have been great neighbors committed to making this a great community. I doubt that new owners will buy/build their own homes in our community and share the passion the Gibson’s had for making it work for our collective interests.

If ownership changes hands, I will miss the opportunity to talk directly with The Gibson family. They have been great partners in my 4 years at Morgan Creek and I’m cautiously optimistic that the new owners will be as good as the ones we have alienated.

One last comment: be careful what you wish for, versus what you know.

    1. @eric I met Charlie once and he seemed like a nice guy. For whatever reasons his entire family decided to move away and giving up the business/community that’s beyond us. There must be good reasons behind it. Too bad we don’t get to hear his side of the stories nor give us a chance to help by showing the financials.

I think he can be a good guy and he can influence the outcome to benefit for win win for all.

  4. I wish for transparency. Smoke and mirrors and dog and pony shows don’t excite me as much as transparency.

  5. @ Eric – If the Gibson family truly had a “passion for our collective interests” they would have opened their books to garner community support. Talk is cheap.

  6. This is not about the Gibsons, it”s about wanting the home owners in this community to pay for a failing business with no factual information, other than we are losing money and need a subsidy to keep it open.. Guess what I don’t give money to people on streets with signs either. If nobody buys it, it’s a business better off closed.

  7. @Eric – You got it backwards, it was the owners who alienated the homeowners not the other way around. And you know what’s a “bummer”, being threatened “pay up or I’ll develop or close”.
