By now the HOA should have mailed to all owners a copy of the proposed rules for operation of the vehicle and pedestrian gates as well as vehicle registration. You should have one. The gates are a reality, but we can make them better serve our needs through your comments. Here is your opportunity to be heard.
Send your constructive comments to the Board before their meeting on October 2. If you comment here we will also consolidate your feedback and submit it to the board. Please no bitching, constructive comments only. We’d like to get your feedback by September 1.
The pedestrian gates should be higher and/or altered to prevent people from reaching over/through to open them.
Please state your comments in the form of actionable recommendations the Board can take under advisement. Thank you.
Cars coming in the out gate is a vehicle moving violation (driving on the wrong side of the road). A good way to stop that is have the sheriff or highway patrol look at the video recordings and issue move violations citations. I guarantee that would stop quickly and the county would make revenue money.
Hello, we are not yet moved into the community but have purchased. We own another home in a gated development. Not certain what all of the gate issues are but just wanted to share how the gate in our development works. Owners have an “access” card that is waved in front of a panel or a remote garage door type opener. They both work well. Along with those there is a 4 diget code that is changed quarterly. The code can be given to guests, housekeepers, etc. there is also the resident directory visitors or workmen can call so you can push a number on your phone to open the gate. It’s not perfect as cars can always follow another car in. I believe the pedestrian access gates are opened from either side via key only. Reaching over does not open the gate. Gates can give a false sense of security but they do add an extra deterrent and offer the community a more private feel. Perhaps you already have all of the above operational suggestions so I apologize for the comments. I’m certain your Board and Management company are working with the installation company to remedy the issues. It’s a difficult “volunteer” position being a HOA Board member. Thank you!
The New Buyer described the features and gate operation very well. I think the residents just need to get used to the gate instead of the greeters. I have two suggestions. May be the gate vendor can program to identify the camera shots when there are cars going in thru the Out Gate. This will allow the HOA staff to review the pictures easier. The sheriff will not spend the time to review all camera or video shots. The rolling of the names on the entrance pad goes pretty quick. This speed works for the younger group, but not for the elderly or people that are not used to electronics. Can the vendor slow down the speed of the name rolling?
The system had some issues and dependability was not good when it was installed initially. I think those issues should be worked out with time.
I would suggest the following:
1. At the Vineyard Gate, I would suggest leaving the outbound gate during peak periods. I’ve seen a line of cars to exit the community in both the mornings and the afternoons during peak periods.
2. At the Vineyard Gate, I would suggest directing guests that are having a difficultly in contacting the residents to pull to the center and allow all other cars to proceed when there is a backup. Then the attendant can further assist that individual to contact the appropriate person to can access.
3. At all the gates, I would add a permanent note of how to contact the gate assistants.
Please no bitching.
