The following announcement was just published by the HOA management company. It is most disappointing and the second postponement. There are important issues in play affecting all of us now including legal actions which could affect us all.
The objective of this blog is to provide information to residents and provide a forum for discussion. So here is one this writer believes needs to be identified and addressed.
Our current Board President, John Carey, is an absentee member. For those who do not know, he has accepted and started a job away from the community. His home is for sale. His absence is making it difficult to maintain a quorum. He has indicated an unwillingness to resign.
So what do you think? Should the Board or community take action to resolve this problem? What can be done? Are you concerned?

Yes, he needs to resign. I believe he has more important things on his plate at this time. His interest is not with MC.
I do not know John Cary or his reasons for wishing to remain on the MC Board. Nor do I know if he brings a particular talent or insight to our current negotiations with the golf course owner.
That said, if any board member is not able to fulfill their board member duties, that individual should resign to allow the board to operate effectively.

What is the reason for his “unwillingness” What could be gained from staying on if he’s unavailable to participate?
I have served on a board of directors at a condominium complex over 30 years ago and what Mr. Carey is doing is unacceptable. He either needs to resign his position or there needs to be a signed vote by a majority or the home owners, if there is not a quorum to vote him out, to remove him from office. You can’t run a administrative policy and enforce it when nobody shows up to run the business. Hello! Wake Up!!
John Carey is why there have been so many issues. He should be out, completely. Huge fail, again.
I cannot believe that Morgan creek has so many unhappy negative people. People, life is short and you should make the best of it. Being on the board is not a paid position and all the board members are doing this for free and taking many hours out of their personal time to deal with serious and trivial issues. I cannot believe that the president not being at a meeting and telling people ahead of time he was not going to be there has been blamed for a postponement. I personally will be glad when John’s term is up and there will be no more dinner interruptions or family interruptions due to the fact someone is angry with their neighbor. Yes some issues need to be handled I am sure. If you take the time to talk to John he will let you know he is still dedicated to Morgan Creek Community. I am not involved in issues that come up and don’t want to know but he has spent many personal hours researching, reaching out to people and resolving issues. How about we thank the board for what they have done and stop slamming individuals for what is out of their control. Just a thought, why was the meeting cancelled? Not enough board members were able to attend, not just one individual. As with everyone else commenting, these are my thoughts. If you don’t like what is going on please run for the board at election time and maybe instead of complaining you can make a difference.
Well said. Some people seem to have their own agenda. We need a neutral blog/forum one that promotes community instead of trying to tear it apart for their own gain and or amusement,
I am not resigning because I am actively participating in the board. I missed one meeting due to work schedule conflict. Be aware I was not the only board member not in attendance which caused the lack of a quorum, there were a total of three absent. Plus there is a big difference between not being able to attend and not wanting to attend. I put my attendance at meetings up against any other member and you will see my absences are at a minimum, not in violation of the rules, and better than others.
I have strongly defended the community against the attempted actions of the golf course that would have negatively affected all of us, and I will continue to do so until my term ends.
I will not run for another term so I encourage all you haters to step up and fill my vacancy come the end of the year.

We are not haters. We are a group of individuals that would like to be kept informed about what is going on in our neighborhood. It seems to me that the board goes too far in the decision process in secret before presenting issues to the members. As a member, that’s how I FEEL. That is what I am hearing. Maybe you need to ask why people feel that way. For instance, the whole process of dealing with the golf course. It seems like the board turns to lawyers first, at our expense, to explore issues that didn’t even need discussion because the community was against it from the start. The answer is then, “well you run for the board”, and that is a cop out. We want better communication. Not attending a meeting and hearing, “oh, we can’t talk about that”. I want to thank the blog for it’s existence and for trying to keep us informed.
