Tuesday night’s open meeting was deeply disturbing. It was attended by over 100 people, both Zoom and in person. What they witnessed was a meeting totally out of control. It revealed a dysfunctional board. Two members, Steve and Rob, seemed disruptive and out of step.
Here’s some takeaways you need to pay attention to:
The new gate access system seems to be a pet project with little transparency. Questions were asked about costs with no clear answers. Privacy issues were raised with the response that a Board member will look into it.
The Board is firing our management company. No clear reason was given. It’s our experience over the last 20 years is First service has been the best and most responsive we’ve had. Changing them is something not to be taken lightly. It would be a major disruption with little or no benefit. We urge you to weigh in. Let your board know your opinion. Email today through the First Service portal.
A petition has been circulated by James Shelby, a former Board member, to remove the two disruptive Board members, Steve and Rob. He has enough signatures to hold a special election. YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION AND VOTE.
As part of the dysfunction, Lorenzo was “fired” as president and Stephanie was elected. Even so, she deferred to Steve to continue running the meeting. STEPHANIE, TAKE CHARGE!
So much more transpired that we can’t cover. Please, if you care at all about the community, step forward. We need two new responsible board members. We have to take our community back.
comments are encouraged.
Thank you for all of the work you are doing to take care of this!!!!!!!
I believe it was Steve & Stephanie who James circulated the petition for recall, not 100% but thats what/who I thought it was?
I’m against letting the first service go best hoh company they know what their doing and no intrusive meddling remove the disruptions from the board
Where is this petition? When was it circulated? We would sign it! The Board should not be able to change the the HOH or the gate system without community input. Firing the Board sounds like a better idea than firing First Service.
The worst part was when steve told done to “shut up”. So disrespectful. Steve has no idea how to run a meeting. It was embarrassing!
I agree the meeting was a disaster! I was shocked at the way our HOA “leaders” talked to each other and those in attendance. I left with zero confidence they know what they are doing.
YIKES! What a dysfunctional Board. Seems to be looking out for themselves, NOT the residents. I tried to use the new code I was given to open the gate one night and it didn’t work. Had to sneak in like so many others. No wonder they don’t want to reveal info abt the new gate upgrade. I have lived in this community for over 20 years and have witnessed the mgmt of many HOA organizations and First Service is, by far, the very BEST of all of them! – responsive, knowledgeable, and approachable. Who will we wind up with? An organization somehow connected with a Board member? We need new leadership now.
The Board members are supposed to act on our, the community’s, behalf and we should all have a say with what decisions are made.
I watched the meeting on Zoom and it was atrocious and it appears that Rob and Steve are brutish bullies and I do not want them to represent me!
I also heard that Stepanie had Tami removed as chair of the social committee. Is she worthy to continue toserve as a board member?
I fully support the petition to remove and elect new board members.
I would want to sign the petition to remove the two disruptive members. We should have no room for this type of behavior; it is in our best interest to cooperate and be transparent on any HOA discussions or changes.

I’m curious… You state that FirstService has been managing MC for 20 years.. I’m confused… I moved here a little over 5 years ago, and I thought we were managed by another company at that point in time. Am I mistaken?
The comment was that they are best one over the 20 years we’ve been here. They replaced Massingham about 4 years ago. Great improvement.
when is the special election being held? it needs to be very soon so we don’t have any disruptions with our HOA. do we need to sign a petition for that to happen?
I have served on HOA boards in the past. I was totally shocked at the meeting last Tuesday. Our board members are elected. If the board wanted to remove a president or other member of the board, they had to submit a recall or special election. The three board members out of five that voted to remove the president need to resign immediately and the elected president reinstalled until an election is performed. Also, as far as firing a mangement company without alredy having a replacement and not bring it to the HOA membership to vote on is insane. I am totally discussed with this.

Jay, our bylaws provide for election of board members, not the position they hold on the board. The board itself elects its officers including president. There will be a special election in October to recall two board members. Please be sure to vote.
