Golf Course Owner is Moving

Our golf course part owner and manager is moving on. Charlie Gibson is selling his spacious home on Ravensworth Place and moving to Serrano. According to Charlie he decided he did not want the pressures of living where he works. Instead he says he will continue to manage the course himself via a daily 50 minute plus commute. We wish him luck in his new abode. Word has it that Charlie’s son, Cole, is also moving out.

Did You Know

Our wonderful community is not only home to over 500 houses but also has an 18-hole championship golf course which, as good neighbors, houses within it a Placer county designated riparian sanctuary with bike and walking paths along Dry Creek. The golf course is also home to a protected area on the grounds which is home to the endangered elderberry longhorn beetle.

The Rumor Mill

As many of you may know, rumors are flying concerning the status and future of the golf course. At this point they are unsubstantiated with facts and range from:
• The golf course is losing money and can’t survive.
• The golf course owners want the HOA to subsidize the club to the tune of an additional $25-$30 per lot to help keep the club solvent.
• All or part of the course will be shut down and turned to weeds unless the owners can develop the land for housing.
None of this is yet fact and our HOA board is working diligently to clarify the situation. Meanwhile concerned homeowners should take notice and be prepared to act if necessary to protect our community and our property values.

Call for Help

This newsletter is being published independently as a service to the homeowners of Morgan Creek. We believed that, armed with facts and a community voice we can protect our investment in our community and continue to maintain it at the high level it currently enjoys.
The group which publishes this newsletter would like to find a practicing attorney who lives here and would be willing to informally provide general help and guidance on what legal rights we have as homeowners should any of the above rumors turn to fact. If you can help, please contact Jim at jadrainc1+mc@gmail.com or call 916-765-3446

So What's Up With the Gates

After a long and somewhat painful process our access gates are finally here. As we understand it they are nearing completion with a planned May 15 kickoff. Letters have gone out to all owners explaining how they will work and providing applications for transponders for two family vehicles to operate the gates. Apparently, to date, less than half of the homes have applied for the free transponders. So, what’s up with that?
We urge that residents get in their applications immediately and that the HOA in parallel issue the devices. As of now we are paying for both the gate loan and full guard staffing. The longer that goes on the more of our dues are squandered!
We’ve come this far, let’s get those apps in NOW!
