At the West Placer Municipal Advisory Council meeting on March 10 Morgan Creek owners spoke out unanimously in opposition to the proposed plan to close the golf course and build 79 homes. Our HOA Board president as well as a dozen or so owners made public comments against this proposal. Our County Supervisor, Bonnie Gore, and her staff were in attendance. The following message was delivered loud and clear by the HOA.
There will be many more opportunities for you to get directly involved in the coming days. One is a Town Hall meeting for West Placer held by Bonnie March 24 at 5;30 PM via ZOOM. This will be another opportunity to speak out. We encourage everyone to attend. Details will follow. Stay tuned.
Not Enough:
I like this letter because it points out the obvious, that this community went through a strenuous process and was approved to be what it is today, a successful asset to West Roseville and on a larger scale, the image of all of Roseville to the outside world.
Beautiful Gated Golf Course communities are RARE. raise the stature of a city or area and not only attract business, but also the executives who run those businesses.
As a golfer, I know this is a great golf course. Prior to moving here, Morgan Creek was always in the rotation of all of my golf buddies of the best courses in the area to play often.
I’ve spoken to many golfers, who stroll by our yard on the 6th, who cam up from the Bay Area, or Marin to play the course because their buddy did and loved it. Many didn’t even know Sacramento. So in many ways we are ambassadors to our whole region.
Throwing that away is such a HUGE mistake for Roseville, Placer County, and the region.
However, while I like the letter, I believe the call to action is not powerful enough. I don’t think we need to just “talk” with Charlie Gibson and the LLC, we’ve tried.
My opinion is that we need to get the Bonnie Gore, all other supervisors and the Planning board including planning director E.J. Ivaldi, on board to ACTIVELY and once and for all, reject and squash any attempts to “re-develop” this land and community…..PERIOD! It’s in the best interest of everyone in the South Placer community.
I completely agree with Steven the original development plans ought to be respected and fully enforced. These issues are very important not only for us, but for all Placer County and specifically West Roseville inhabitants. The Golf Course owner(s)’ plans are not new or unique, they have a recent historical precedent of similar characteristics. Conversations with LLC/owners have been unsuccessful in the past. In my opinion, the LLC’s motives are strongly motivated by the pursue of a business profit, not by community or environmental concerns. Nothing has changed to make me think that some compromise could be reached.
