Golf Course Appeals! Call to ACTION!

Morgan Creek, LLC has appealed the decision of the Placer County planning department that their project application to reduce or remove the golf course and build new homes on the property is incomplete. The principal contention is that approval requires legislative action to amend the original Community Plan and change the existing zoning. The Placer County Planning Commission will hear their appeal on October 26 sometime after 10 am. We will be more specific as soon as the agenda is published. Stay tuned.

Many of us who are original buyers or are early owners, bought here because of the open space, community ambiance, and housing density expressed in the original plan. To have that vision changed arbitrarily without legislative action and without the Community weighing in is completely unacceptable.

We need to let the Planning Commission know that the planning department was correct in their determination to keep our Community as originally constituted. Whether we have an organized demonstration is yet to be determined. However, you are urged to save the date OCTOBER 26, to attend the meeting if possible to voice your objections.

This may be the first of many hurdles the proposed development faces, possibly next at the County Board of Supervisors level. While we can’t force the golf course as a business to remain, our county officials, both appointed and elected, need to know we will not stand by and have the community we all bought into destroyed arbitrarily with over crowding from new homes, and destruction of maintained open space.

As usual, comments are welcome. Let your neighbors know what they could lose. Join the BLOG. Get involved. See you on the 26th!

  1. Can a letter or a petition be drafted with the history and benefits that all the homeowners can sign date and return it before the hearing takes place? Then those could be presented at the hearing as well.

    1. Not in a month. Butt in seats at the commission meeting is going to be much more powerful visually. Show up!

  2. Residents have to SHOW UP at this meeting. It is critical. Don’t sit home. Make this a priority. Please don’t rely on “somebody else” to show up for you.

  3. It doesn’t really matter if you are an original owner or have lived here for only a short period of time…this is a Master Planned Community.

This would never happen in the city limits of Roseville. Frankly it’s disgraceful the County is even entertaining the idea. I have many friends who have worked for many years alongside Bonnie Gore in Planning and Development for The City of Roseville. Bonnie worked for the City of Roseville and has strong connections with the current ownership group. Maybe this is why they are getting a shot at development?

Thankfully the board hired one of the best land attorneys in the area.

  4. This is our first opportunity to meet first hand with the Placer County Planning Commission. It is imperative our voices are heard from the Morgan Creek Golf Course homeowners and public that we are united against any new homes being built within our wonderful community. We need to have homeowners and people within Placer County show up the this important meeting on October 26th in Auburn. Here are some ideas to help our cause.

    1. What’s our HOA doing to get in front and organize a plan? Hope we hear a plan soon!!
    2. We need our HOA to put together a brochure with information and talking points on this very important upcoming meeting in Auburn. We can get volunteers to distribute to homes. Many homeowners aren’t even aware of this upcoming meeting.

    3. A petition would work. We still have time!! Have the people in the shacks at Vineyard and Walerga gates stop our residents and ask for their signatures. The general public could also sign this petition. I’m sure someone on PFE would volunteer to get signatures and hand out brochures.
    4. We need our Placer County Planning Commission and County Supervisors phone numbers and emails to voice our objection. (especially those who can’t attend the meeting).

I’m sure other homeowners have some great ideas. First impression will go a long way at this meeting. Those who can attend please attend. Those who can’t please call or email.
