Highlights of the HOA Board Open Meeting September 12

An open Board meeting was held Tuesday, September 12 at Dry Creek District Offices. About 25 people attended and in person and 17 via Zoom. This is a pretty poor turnout considering we have a community of over 500 homes!

The most significant announcement was the resignation of two Board members Marg and Nick, effective now. Marg’s position comes up for reelection in November and thus, she will not be replaced. Nick’s term ends next year. The Board proposed to appoint someone to fill the remainder of his term. Pam Porter volunteered. Assuming she is approved in the next executive session, she will be the newest Board member.

Pam’s appointment will leave a vacancy on the Landscape Committee she now chairs. In addition, Kathy Roberts has resigned from the Archictural Review Committee Leaving it with only one member.

All this exposes a dramatic shortage of volunteers to serve. Much of our community’s success as a great place to live is made possible by those who give back with their time and dedication. Please seriously consider applying for one of the open positions or running for the two Board seats coming up for election in November. OUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!

A brief summary of other highlights follow:

  • ARC processed 7 applications since the last open meeting with 2 approved so far. Many are making changes without awareness they need approval. A letter will be going out shortly reminding people of approvals required by our CC&R’s.
  • Chuck, Welcoming Committee chair, provided an interesting statistic. Only 19 new residents have moved into Morgan Creek since the first of the year.
  • First Service welcomed Amamda as the latest add to the staff as assistant community manager.
  • It was pointed out that the many of the new greeters brought in by Blue Knight have not performed well, rudeness, absence from post and general ineffectiveness being among the issues. Machelle, our community manager, said that they acknowledge the shortcomings, and a number of staffing changes are in process to improve the situation. If you notice something, you are encouraged to report it via the First Service 800 number.
  • One homeowner expressed the opinion that there was no enforcement of CC&R’s in the community. It was pointed out that there are 320 violations of various types in process, many resulting in hearings and possible fines. Most of this occurs behind the scenes.

Since we started this BLOG 5 years ago a number of people have moved out of the community and new ones have moved in. If you are enjoying this two way forum, please let your neighbors know of our existence. They can register at mcowners.com.
